Medicaid cuts could be ‘highly consequential’ for Valley healthcare, experts say. Here’s how

The Fresno Bee recently published an article examining how potential federal Medicaid cuts could impact healthcare access in the San Joaquin Valley. Dr. Olga Meave, CEO of Clinica Sierra Vista, was among the Valley healthcare leaders interviewed for this important story.

In the article, Clinica Sierra Vista’s CEO explained the potential consequences of reduced federal funding:

“Medi-Cal is vital for our patients as it often provides their only means of accessing necessary medical, dental, and mental health care services. Any cuts to Medi-Cal could severely impact these patients, leading to reduced access to preventive care and management of chronic conditions, which can escalate into more serious health issues requiring emergency care or hospitalization.”

Dr. Olga Meave, MD

The article highlights concerns about reduced access to preventive care and chronic disease management, which could worsen health conditions and increase emergency room visits.

Clinica Sierra Vista serves patients throughout the Valley regardless of insurance status or ability to pay, making potential Medicaid cuts particularly concerning for our communities.
