Dr. Alejandra Sugey Lopez is a compassionate and well-rounded physician with a strong commitment to family and community. Originally from Los Angeles, California, she relocated to Bakersfield in 2018 to continue her journey in serving underserved communities.
As the daughter of Mexican immigrants and raised in a predominantly Spanish-speaking household, Dr. Lopez has always felt a deep connection to the Hispanic community. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and completed the UC Davis Postbaccalaureate Program before obtaining her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico.
Dr. Lopez is passionate about health equity, mentorship, and expanding diversity within the medical field. Her professional interests include addressing language barriers in healthcare, promoting the importance of primary care in communities of color, and increasing the representation and retention of Latinas in medicine.
Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys running, singing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Lopez also aspires to take on leadership roles that allow her to give back to both the Bakersfield community and her hometown of South Los Angeles.
