During the month of December of 2025, our WIC team of 83 came together for an in-person Nutrition and Breastfeeding Training, with a festive and fun twist. Staff arrived in holiday gear, bringing bright smiles and positive energy that set the tone for a memorable day of learning.

Starting off with a Surprise Listening Activity

We kicked off the morning by launching into a surprise listening activity.

To everyone’s delight (and shock!), staff soon realized that what was being read aloud was the activity, and that paying close attention could win them a prize.

The exercise served as a lighthearted reminder of the importance of staying engaged, even when our minds start to wander. From there, we enjoyed hot chocolate and donated homemade conchas together, giving everyone a chance to connect and ease into the day.

Teamwork & Collaboration

The training continued with a station-based format. Each staff member was assigned a number and began at a corresponding station, encouraging teamwork and collaboration with colleagues they may not usually work alongside.

Each station was peer-led and focused on practical breastfeeding tips and education, creating a supportive and interactive learning environment.

Wrapping Things Up

After the stations, we wrapped up the training with a fun quiz game.

To end the day on a festive note, those who dressed up were invited to parade their holiday gear, and the group voted on the best-dressed attendee.

At WIC, we are incredibly fortunate to work alongside such passionate, dedicated, and cheerful employees. Their love for what they do truly shines through in their work and in their smiles. We believe learning should be engaging, collaborative, and enjoyable, and this holiday Nutrition and Breastfeeding Training was no exception. We learned a lot, supported one another, and had a wonderful time together. Thank you to our amazing WIC team for making this event such a success.

Here are some ways you might qualify:

  • You are pregnant
  • You are breastfeeding a baby who is less than one year old
  • You had a baby in the last six months
  • You have a child who is under the age of five

You also need to think about your family’s income. Here are the monthly income limits for family sizes:

  • 3 Persons: $4,109
  • 4 Persons: $4,957

This income limit is based on 185% of the Federal Poverty Level, and these amounts will be effective from April 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
