We are proud to announce the opening of Clinica Sierra Vista’s new Specialty Services Center in Bakersfield; a major milestone in expanding access to specialized respiratory care for our community. Kern County faces higher-than-average rates of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, COPD, emphysema, obstructive sleep apnea, pulmonary embolisms, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary nodules, respiratory failure, smoking-related conditions, Valley Fever, and other serious lung diseases. The presence of a dedicated pulmonology facility is both timely and essential, bringing advanced treatment options and expert care to patients who need it most.

We are excited to partner with Dr. Hany Aziz and his team to Clinica Sierra Vista. His team includes Witchell Cabasag, FNP-C; Maria Ana A. Cabasag, FNP-C; and Heidi Hongxin He, D.N.P. Together, they bring years of experience and trusted relationships with patients and hospitals across the region. Their longstanding collaboration ensures a seamless transition of care, and their reputation for compassion and excellence gives patients confidence that they are in good hands. To better serve our diverse community, services are offered in English, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Filipino, and Tagalog.

In addition to providing primary and specialty treatment, the Specialty Services Center will focus on prevention and education. Through community outreach, collaborations with local providers, and patient-focused programs, the center will raise awareness about lung health, early detection, and lifestyle strategies that support long-term wellness. These efforts are designed to reduce preventable hospital visits and empower patients with the tools they need to live healthier lives.

Located at 3801 San Dimas Street, Suite B, Bakersfield, CA 93301 (at the corner of San Dimas Street and 38th Street), the new center is easily accessible from local hospitals and major transportation routes. By making these services available locally, Clinica Sierra Vista is not only improving patient outcomes but also strengthening our region’s healthcare infrastructure—representing a long-term investment in the health and vitality of the community we proudly serve.

The Specialty Services Center will not only offer primary medical care but also provide specialized evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments for a variety of respiratory conditions, including pulmonary issues:

Respiratory Health in Our Community

California’s San Joaquin Valley faces high rates of respiratory conditions that significantly impact quality of life and require specialized, ongoing care. In Kern County, approximately 111,000 children and adults have been diagnosed with asthma, while in Fresno County, the number is even higher, with 176,000 children and adults diagnosed with asthma. Both rates are higher than the national average. Kern County is also recognized as “ground zero” for Valley Fever (Coccidioidomycosis) in California, with an average of 199 cases per 100,000 people, the highest incidence in the state. In 2025 alone, Kern County has logged 1,945 provisional Valley Fever cases, more than any other California county.

These respiratory illnesses, along with COPD, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema, demand expert pulmonary care. Yet our community is one of the most medically underserved areas in California, with only 47 primary care physicians per 100,000 people in the San Joaquin Valley, one of the lowest ratios in the state. This shortage extends to specialty care, creating challenges for patients seeking timely access to pulmonology services.

With the opening of the Specialty Services Center, we are bringing comprehensive pulmonary care closer to home, ensuring our patients can receive expert treatment in a familiar, trusted environment. This is healthcare as we believe it should be: accessible, compassionate, and centered on the needs of our community.
