About WIC

What is WIC?

The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program helps families get the healthy start they deserve. As a resident of California, you may qualify for the WIC nutrition program if you are:

  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding (until your baby is one year old)
  • Non-breastfeeding (until your baby is six months old)
  • Experiencing a recent pregnancy loss (up to six months after pregnancy)
  • A family with a child under five years old
  • A foster family with a child under five years old
  • A military family with a child under five years old
  • A single parent with a child under five years old
  • A caretaker (legal or non-legal guardian) caring for a child under five years old

AND

  • Meet the WIC income limits (bring proof of income, identification, and address at each enrollment and recertification)

Through WIC, you can get:

  • Healthy foods every month
  • Tips and support for feeding your family
  • Help with breastfeeding, including supplies and expert guidance
  • Referrals to doctors, health care, and other community resources

WIC is not food stamps, it’s about health and empowerment. WIC is here to make healthy living easier—for you, your kids, and your growing family.

Why Does WIC Matter?

Because healthy doesn’t have to be hard. Good nutrition during pregnancy and early childhood sets the stage for lifelong health. With WIC, you’ll learn simple ways to plan meals, make the most of your food benefits, and feel confident about feeding your family.

WIC is here to provide:

  • Care that helps make families healthier
  • Support for early childhood development
  • Community resources for families

Do I Qualify for WIC?

WIC is a program that helps families with food and nutrition. Call us at (661) 862-5422 or send a message, and we’ll help you see if you qualify.

Here are some ways you might qualify:

  • You are pregnant
  • You are breastfeeding a baby who is less than one year old
  • You had a baby in the last six months
  • You have a child who is under the age of five
  • You experienced a loss of pregnancy or had a termination

You also need to think about your family’s income. Here are the monthly income limits for family sizes:

  • 1 Person: $2,413
  • 2 Persons: $3,261
  • 3 Persons: $4,109
  • 4 Persons: $4,957
  • 5 Persons: $5,805
  • More than 5 Persons: Add $848 for each additional member

This income limit is based on 185% of the Federal Poverty Level, and these amounts will be effective from April 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

Also, if you’re pregnant, the baby counts as part of your family size when figuring out if you qualify.
