Residents from the Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program proudly participated in the 2026 California Health Sciences University (CHSU) Research Day, held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the CHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine campus in Clovis, CA.
The annual event continues to grow, featuring approximately 140 poster and podium presentations from students, residents, faculty, and local healthcare professionals across the Central Valley. It provides a collaborative space to share research, highlight innovation, and celebrate academic achievement in healthcare.
This year, Rio Bravo residents were especially recognized for their outstanding work, earning the Best Resident Poster Award – a testament to their dedication and commitment to improving patient care.
Highlighting Resident Scholarship
At the event, residents Nariman Almnini, MD; Samhrutha Sripathi, MD; and Yvette Singh, MD, alongside Clinica Sierra Vista providers Verna Marquez, MD, and Andrea Hoopescruz, RN, presented a quality improvement project focused on maternal health and the prevention of preeclampsia. Their work examined the implementation of a structured low-dose aspirin protocol, aimed at improving screening and preventive care for pregnant patients.
Winning Research Poster
Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency continues to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. The strong outcomes of this project, including improvements in screening and prescribing, highlight the power of resident-led care to make a real difference. This recognition at CHSU Research Day celebrates not only the achievements of these residents, but their ongoing commitment to advancing maternal health across Kern County.
