About Gagan
Dr. Gagan Kooner is a fellowship-trained Sports Medicine physician specializing in non-operative orthopedics and musculoskeletal care. Born and raised in Bakersfield, Dr. Kooner completed his Family Medicine residency at the UCLA-affiliated Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program right here in the Central Valley before pursuing advanced fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Eisenhower Health. He returned to Bakersfield because it is his community, and he believes everyone here deserves access to modern, high-quality orthopedic care without having to leave home.
Dr. Kooner treats a wide range of bone, joint, and muscle conditions, including knee and hip pain, rotator cuff injuries, arthritis, tendon injuries, low back and neck pain, and sports-related injuries, using a care approach that focuses on restoring movement and function without surgery whenever possible. He also offers advanced ultrasound-guided procedures that deliver treatment with greater precision and better outcomes for his patients. Whether you are an athlete, a worker dealing with repetitive strain, or someone living with chronic joint pain, Dr. Kooner is here to help you move better, feel better, and stay active.
Philosophy of Care: “Modern orthopedic care should not begin and end with surgery.” Dr. Kooner’s approach focuses on identifying the true source of pain, restoring movement and function, minimizing unnecessary surgery when appropriate, using musculoskeletal ultrasound, and creating individualized treatment plans for every patient.
